Hartford, Connecticut — October 18th, 2019 — First Night Hartford 2020, the city’s annual New Year’s celebration, will return to the capital on Tuesday, December 31, 2019. For the 31st annual celebration First Night Hartford, an independent non-profit, has partnered with Breakfast Lunch and Dinner, a Hartford-based community venture building firm, to coordinate the festivities. The new partnership will see First Night Hartford 2020 retain many of the family friendly traditions of the Night while also featuring new initiatives to strategically expand the reach, audience, and spectacle.

This year, First Night will be kicking things off a day early with a special event. A celebration of one of Hartford's finest musicians. The event, The Life, Times, and Music of Nat Reeves, will take place on December 30th, 2019 at the Aetna Theater, at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art. The performance will see Nat Reeves, world-renowned Jazz bassist and educator at The Hartt School, Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz, perform an intimate show and will share an oral history of all the places Jazz has taken him around the globe. Without her dedication and commitment the event certainly would not have been possible these past few years. First Night Hartford would also like to extend their gratitude to past funders, The Greater Hartford Arts Council, The Edward C. & Ann T Roberts Foundation, The Richard P. In recent years the annual event has struggled to find the funding to make the over $100,000 a year budget possible and worthy of the wonderful Hartford community.
