Right around this time last year Jasmine Jones started working on an idea for a magazine. A few months later with the help of friends, family, and total strangers she would officially publish issue 001 of Aislin Magazine. Jasmine had quickly created a unique journal of arts, culture and lifestyle coverage for the region that helped fill a void that been missing in the region since at least the early aughts.

The team at BL&D has been excited about Aislin since the moment we saw it and even more so after meeting Jasmine. So excited that we’ve begun to work with Jasmine and Aislin and help it grow into a business that can continue to provide vital media coverage in our region. The main aim for now is to create a business that can pay writers, photographers, designers, and more to produce a product with think our community needs, wants, and deserves. Just a couple weeks back the quarterly mag published issue 003 with a release party tucked into the soon to be home of our collaborative retail space. If you weren’t able to make it and haven’t had chance to check out the issue you can peep it HERE. The big news is that we are helping launch a crowdfunding campaign for subscribers to get Aislin off the ground. Be sure to read Jasmine’s letter below and be on the look out for more.

EDITOR'S LETTER

Welcome to Aislin (that’s pronounced Ash-Lin), a quarterly Arts & Culture magazine focused on showcasing both new and established individuals in art, fashion, music, and writing. Aislin was started with a simple goal - to showcase, promote, and uplift voices with a unique vision. Originating and based in Connecticut (a state that is often overlooked, even though it is brimming with talent), Aislin’s focus is on promoting artists and independent businesses who ought to be recognized both nationally and internationally.

Thank you to all who have supported Aislin thus far; we wouldn’t be here today without all of your support and contributions. With the release of our third issue, we’re extremely excited to start taking the necessary steps towards turning this magazine into a business. We want Aislin to be in the hands of everyone, and that starts with raising the funds necessary to achieve that goal. We’re launching a subscriber campaign, with a goal of 200 subscribers. That way, we can begin to spread the word about the art and culture of various individuals who should be known world wide.

Be on the lookout for the campaign, which will be launching soon. With the money that is raised, we’ll be able to start a small media business that allows us to pay the artists and writers involved for their hard work. Once the campaign is over and our goal is reached, we will get right to work on the revived Aislin magazine - your number one source for showcasing up and coming creative talent throughout Connecticut, and around the world.
